The timeline online did not know my history

I waited because a general page said to wait. Then I found another page with a different timeline and wondered whether I had already waited too long. The numbers looked authoritative until I noticed they came from different places and included exceptions I did not understand.

I booked an appointment and opened with the facts: how long we had been trying, my age, cycle pattern, health history, and why I was asking now. “What timing applies in my circumstances?” was more useful than asking the clinician to choose between two screenshots.

I asked what would lead to earlier assessment, what the first step involved, and when I should return if nothing changed. I wrote down the recommendation with its reason and jurisdiction.

The appointment did not prove that reading general guidance had been foolish. Public information helped me recognise a question. It simply could not perform the individual assessment I kept demanding from it.

I still use reliable guides. Now I look for who issued them, where they apply, and whether my situation contains something the summary cannot address. A timeline can help open the door to care. It should not stand in the doorway pretending it has already met me.
